I'm just a guy with a computer that has way too much free time on his hands. These days, I spend most of my time writing silly programs that do nothing for my own amusement. I'm particularly fond of using Python, but I'm not averse to writing in C when I feel the need for speed. When I'm not coding, I'm either goofing off on the Internet or playing video games. I'm not great at the latter, but I am getting better.
I'm one of those Unix users you occasionally hear legends about. I'm also an ex-Windows (and Microsoft) hater who's beginning to mellow out now that he's actually programmed on the platform. I'm not much of a guy for graphical interfaces: I find that passing everything as text is more efficient.
I have spent some time in fandom. HP scarred me for life, and fandom_wank made me the bitter, cynical person you see before you today. These experiences have most certainly taught me how to appreciate the humor around me, as well as how to be a complete t00b. Fandom Wank has taught me how to be snarky.
The other thing that gives me a relatively unique perspective is the fact that I'm a liberal arts soul stuck with a scientific mind. This, of course, leads everyone, myself included, to wonder why the hell I got a BSc in Biology, or why I ever wanted to be a doctor. Sure, it's a bit of a struggle, but at least I'm trying to learn something. My second BSc in Computer Science is more easily explicable: I like computers.
Frankly, if you're still reading this, I'm incredibly surprised. I'm quite boring, you know, and it's never going to get more interesting. There are times when it looks like something's going to change, but then people disappear and I'm left on my own again.
Go elsewhere if you're looking for porn. If you need to know where to find some, try Google. Besides, you wouldn't want to see me naked anyway. It kinda scares me to even look in the mirror when I'm fully clothed. Yeah, I'm an ugly mofo. And plastic surgery wouldn't really help.
Am I the stereotypical LJ user? I used to say no, but the past few years have made me wonder: there have been a plethora of whiny/bitchy/bitter/lonely/occasionally suicidal posts here. I recognize the fact that I'm on LiveJournal, so I cannot be legitimate, but that doesn't mean that I have to suck, however, and I try to keep the suck f'locked.
When I refer to doing crack, it means that I'm either reading fanfic, reading Reddit, or watching the new Battlestar Galactica. I don't endorse recreational drug use, as I know way too much about what drugs do.
One of the most common features of this journal is the fact that I run random polls every now and then. They frequently won't make sense, and if they do, you should be worried.
A note about web browsers: using an old web browser will negatively impact the way you see the World Wide Web. I'd generally recommend using a browser that can at least pass Acid2 (Firefox/Safari/Google Chrome/even Internet Explorer 8 beta, but no prior versions). Personally, I love Firefox's addon system, but give them all a try.
